Texans Can Academy Westcreek -Graduation Ceremony 2023

Texans Can Academy Fort Worth Westcreek -Graduation Ceremony 2023

On June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas, word reached slaves that they had been freed from their bondage -- eighteen months after the Emancipation Proclamation formally dissolved their bonds. That June day, legal fact became lived reality, and a long overdue celebration began.

Texans Can - San Antonio was privileged to celebrate its 20th Anniversary Motherhood Lifetime Achievement Award luncheon by honoring San Antonio philanthropist Nancy Steves. Also honored were Mark Johnson, longtime member of Texans Can's council, and Mr. Hector Rodriguez, for excellence in teaching! More than 100 guests were in attendance.

For Senior Week, students from our Oak Cliff, Grant East, Pleasant Grove, and Garland campuses toured Cedar Valley College! Met by President Seabrooks and treated to lunch, students also learned about career programs including HVAC, vet tech, and commercial music!

Summer school is coming up this June! See your counselor to learn all about this great opportunity to earn up to 2.5 credits, receive tutoring for testing, and participate in exciting (and free!) summertime activities! We hope to see you there!

A lovely meeting of privilege and responsibility! It was our privilege to have Former Texas State Representative the Honorable Helen Giddings with us this evening to install our new officers: Dr. Thalia Matherson as Chair, Richard Evans as Vice Chair, Antonio Soto as Secretary, and Steve Anderson as Treasurer. We are grateful for them as they embark on their responsibilities to Texans Can Academies!

We're so excited about our students' futures, and we can't wait to celebrate them with their families and friends! #Classof23 #graduation #HOPE

ABC .. FB? Students at our Carrollton/Farmers Branch campus (affectionately known as CFB) celebrated its A/B honor roll students last week with a sundae bar! Way to go, A/B students!

Today, Texans Can expresses its appreciation to our principals and to principals everywhere.

An excitement in the air for prom so there you can smell it. (Freshly popped popcorn and root beer floats, anyone?) Afterschool Centers on Education hosted Tickets & Floats, a great way for students to grab tickets for prom and some afternoon treats! Happy Friday!

The Poetry Slam was an incredible fun and emotionally moving experience. Congratulations to our winners Janet Whatley, Abril Milan, Jacob Hilario, and Micah Palafos!

TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT SAN ANTONIO! Starting at 4:00pm, students and parents can hear students perform original poetry in a friendly competition judged by local community members! Audience participation matters! Students and parents, be part of the excitement!

Today is the perfect date! Get out your light jacket and take it in! (And even if it is a bit drizzly where you are, we hope you're enjoying the spring!)

Yesterday, students in the Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE) program were present for Dallas College Cedar Valley Campus's CTE (Career & Technical Education) Letter of Intent Signing Day and a career fair. Thanks @dallascollegetx for hosting a lovely day!

Houston Hobby students are taking the mic April 28 for a Friday Poetry Slam, presented by the Texas Afterschool Centers on Education! Students and parents are welcome to attend and be part of the excitement. This friendly competition considers audience in deciding the winners!

Our thanks to Acadian Ambulance Services, who joined our students today at Oak Cliff to show career options as an EMT or paramedic and the opportunities they offer to earn certifications with them. #CTE #AcadianAmbulanceServices #EMT #paramedic #education #learning #careerpaths

Are you excited to celebrate your soon-to-be graduate? So are we! Watch out for graduation dates later this month!

April 3-7 is National Assistant Principals Week! Please let your assistant principal know how much they mean to the good that happens on your campus!
