Welcome to the Texans Can Academies Emergent Bilingual/ESL Department. Our goal is to enrich and accelerate the natural transition of language acquisition from the first language to the second language (English) while ensuring long-term affective, linguistic, and cognitive development.
Students who enroll in TCA whose 1st language is not English will have the original Home Language Survey requested from the previous school of enrollment. Those new to Texas will complete a Home Language Survey. If that language is something other than English, the student should have been evaluated for language proficiency in their prior school. TCA will evaluate all of those new to Texas.
TCA offers a pull-out ESL model of support across all of our campuses. Students identified as Emergent Bilingual students will receive these support services.
Bienvenido al Departamento Bilingüe/ESL Emergente de Texans Can Academies. Nuestro objetivo es enriquecer y acelerar la transición natural de la adquisición del lenguaje del primer idioma al segundo idioma (inglés) al tiempo que garantizamos el desarrollo afectivo, lingüístico y cognitivo a largo plazo.
A los estudiantes que se inscriban en TCA cuyo primer idioma no sea el inglés se les solicitará la Encuesta sobre el idioma del hogar original de la escuela de inscripción anterior. Aquellos nuevos en Texas completarán una Encuesta sobre el idioma que se habla en el hogar. Si ese idioma no es el inglés, el estudiante debería haber sido evaluado para determinar su dominio del idioma en su escuela anterior.
TCA evaluará a todos los nuevos en Texas. TCA ofrece un modelo de apoyo de ESL en todos nuestros campus. Los estudiantes identificados como estudiantes bilingües emergentes recibirán estos servicios de apoyo.
