Qualifications: Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or social sciences from accredited college or university preferred Salary: $32k-$39 Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of transition needs of students with special needs Knowledge of identification, education of special education students, human development, psycho-social development and learning theories Knowledge of the Special Education ARD process as it relates to transition Knowledge of post secondary and vocational opportunities for students with with disabilities Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and students Strong training skills for working with adult staff members Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: Three years education experience preferably with vocational ed Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Develop and maintain all required forms and documents relating to transition to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines. 2. Maintain and coordinate published information regarding adult service provider agencies, junior and community colleges, universities, and other post secondary opportunities. 3. Develop appropriate goals and objectives for the student in the transition and/or VAC program. 4. Complete and coordinate all required initial and annual Transition Planning within timelines including Career Guidance System (CGS) program. 5. Provide for and coordinate on the job training / employment for students on a part-time or full time basis as determined by the ARD/IEP committee. 6. Keep Special Education Director/Central SPED Staff informed of campus status and needs through requested documentation. 7. Consult with school staff regarding implementation of vocational support for students with disabilities 8. Assist classroom teachers with implementation of IEP as it relates to transition 9. Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment. 10. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours. Regular district wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned; moderate lifting and carrying. |
